Seeking reenactors interested in portraying the mustering of Company A of the 18th MI
In response to Lincoln’s call for an additional 300,000 troops in July of 1862, the 18th Michigan was created to fill Michigan’s quota of troops. Company A came from Hudson, MI and the roster contains the names of several men who would see time at the Southern prison camps of Andersonville and Cahaba. When the war was over, many died in the explosion on the “Sultana”.
Join the Thompson House Museum and the Hudson Museum in honoring the men of the 18th Michigan on this special weekend. The encampment hopes to include the following events:
* Local Schools Educational Day on Friday, Sept. 12 * Enlistments/Recruiting * Mail Calls * Drills/Demonstrations * Living History/First Person Impressions * Cemetery Tour, featuring graves of the 18th
Join us for this relaxed, family-friendly, educational event!
